Fresno Brewing Company

The Fresno Brewing Company was established by European-trained brewmaster Ernst Eilert and his son William in 1899, becoming the city's first large brewery. It was a prominent feature of the early 20th-century city until Prohibition forced a temporary closure in 1919, during which soft drinks were bottled. Brewing resumed in 1933 but ceased again in 1948, and the main brewery building was razed in 1955. The brick office and warehouse building, built in 1907, is the only remaining structure and serves as a historical landmark.
